Google removes 85 adware infected apps from Google Play Store, Check if you have one of them on your phone.
Jaipur | Rajasthan: 18-Aug-19 2:32 PM IST: Google has reportedly dropped at least 85 apps from its Play Store based on reports that those apps had adware hiding inside them. Reportedly, the security research team at Trend Micro had found the anomaly in the code of the apps.
How this adware works?
The adware works in mysterious ways and displays ads which are hard to close. Furthermore, the apps were also found to have codes that helped them evade detection of the adware and were also having malicious code that detects user behavior.
A large number of such apps were in the genre of photography and gaming, which are the favorite of malicious code generators.
Infected eight million devices
The striking fact about these apps that some of the apps were downloaded at least eight million times or eighty lakh users. Thus, the extent of infection can be gauged and it seems that it has at least infected eight million devices across the globe.
Check if you have one of these apps on your device, uninstall it immediately
Some of the apps detected include Super Selfie, Cos Camera, Pop Camera, and One Stroke Line Puzzle.If you have installed any of these apps or have installed them in the past then its time to check your device for malware and adware.
