We the People and Zen

What makes us a human? Is it our social network or our brain with the complex neural network? Lately, there has been a long debate over who is better AI or human. But it doesn’t matter when we come on the individual level albeit we are all connected and hence responsible for one or another way to the condition of our today. But if we look closely without any projection of our thoughts to the everyday life of the people and our own self, we will find that all of us are living in a specific pattern. Many among us would argue that we are the product of our surroundings and thought, so the conclusion would be different at some level. Today, we are witnessing so many mental diseases, which actually aren’t diseased at all but according to WHO will be the second leading cause of death, how? Because mental unfitness causes more other diseases. So, what’s the solution?

Depression- second leading cause of death.

We see there are so many spiritual gurus who claim so many miraculous things with there methods and to learn this method they charge a good fortune out of you. I wonder, just to learn how to ‘be here and now’ people flock to these gurus which only teach breathing techniques, this clearly shows our anxiousness and unawareness.

Indians in ancient time were a seeker and they found out who are they and a way of living which of course isn’t a method or a thumb rule. But their wisdom vanished with time from this land except for a few people who conserved this treasure. So, what was this way of life? It is ‘Zen’ a way of living. Here, trying to explain or define zen in a book or to a few definition is impossible. Instead, it freezes Zen in time and space, thereby weakening its meaning. To study Zen is to study the self, to study self you have to forget yourself. This sounds insane, but that’s secret and one cannot tell you about how zen is? It’s like telling someone the test of honey who never tested it, we can make an analogy with sugar and other sweet thing but can never be able to tell exactly. To say the least, zen is meditation and being aware of yourself with no feeling of gaining something out of it. But unlike others, it’s not a moral teaching, as without dogma, it does not require one to believe it. Our school system teaches us what to think but zen teach us how to think and what not to think. If someone embedded these things in our society then most of the problem will vanish from there very root. True happiness lies when we are here and now and we feel enormous peace and tranquility, so zen is the to be aware of yourself and about the work in your hand. If someone starts to practice it, he will sooner discover the ignorance with which he was living and realize that the burden that he was carrying in his head was not given by other people but rather unconsciously he allowed them to enter in his mind. So, for practicing zen you don’t have to sit and try to calm your mind and watch the breath but practicing Zen is to practicing this life, and realizing this life, and this life is revealed right here and now.

Zen the art of ecstasy

Zen meditation or zen is extremely beneficial for us in more ways than one. Besides enhancing spiritual growth, it promotes the physical and mental well-being of an individual. There are many health improvement which have been recorded and observed scientifically some of them are like reducing anxiety & stress, better sleep & rest periods, improve immune system, reduce sensitivity to pain, slows aging process, improved blood flow, mood, and behavior, lowers blood pressure, improves posture in daily life, addiction, and recovery. But if we start doing zen just for this then we will miss the real beauty and bliss of this life. So, we don’t need any more excuse to avoid meditation due to our work because zen is meditation in your work. So, I hope you will be eager to know more about Zen and start to live a blissful life.
