Rajasthan Ka Naya CM Kaun? Who is the new CM of Rajasthan 2018?
This is the one question that is more intriguing than the BJP debacle in Rajasthan. With the Congress party getting lion’s share in the assembly elections, it is now the most happening question of much conjecture on Wednesday. Both the runners to the top post – the mighty, heavyweight & stalwart Ashiok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, who is believed to have done much legwork lately to ensure Congress’ return, have explicitly expressed that party president Rahul Gandhi will be deciding their fate. Believe it or not, but both did seem uncomfortable but they had to accept the orders of the high command.
For the past five years and specially since Sachin took charge of party’s state affairs, Congress seemed to have received a new face in Rajasthan. No doubt, partymen seemingly dissatisfied with Gehlot had welcomed a replacement. If he is actually one.
Is it ‘Advantage Sachin’ or ‘Think-big Gehlot’ ?
Gehlot and Rajasthan Congress have been synonymous for years and Sachin’s entry and a grand entry as it is being presumed has in fact changed the face of party in the state. Besides, BJP’s failure in handling public angst against its leaders and ministers also seemed to have favoured Congress party’s return to Rajasthan.
Gehlot or no-Gehlot is the question that needs an answer more than the obvious Sachin or yes-Sachin. There could be many reasons why Rahul Gandhi might give an upperhand to Sachin but there are also strong reasons why he should stick to Gehlot.
No doubt Sachin is the new face, worth trying, dynamic and might be the new choice of young in Rajasthan. Gehlot may have to take a backseat due to dissatisafaction among his own partymen, his traditional style of working, and more importantly his being experienced. This is the one factor that might go against him altogether. As an experienced person he might be preferred by the party to take charge of upcoming general elections and ensure return of Congress on a larger scale. Thus, Sachin’s advantageous position and Gehlot’s advantages as a party person both contribute and hint that Sachin would be the new chief minister of Rajasthan. Furthermore, sidelining Sachin for now and preferring Gehlot might be a waste of resource as both of them would be of no use for the party then. Gehlot would be too preoccupied with state affairs and might not be able to concentrate on general elections. Similarly, Sachin might not be able to handle national affairs for the general elections so well as Gehlot can and thus it is again advantage Sachin.
What about sharing – an arrangement?
All know that it is a tough task to decide between Gehlot and Sachin as both are able and fit candidates for the top post in Rajasthan. But there is another far possibility and it is that Gehlot might be given general assembly assignment for the time being and after he finishes the job, he might be given a chance to steer state. But this seems to be only be a far possibility but it could be the easy solution to the ongoing and inapparent tug-of-war between Sachin and Gehlot. Furthermore, it utilizes and consoles both Sachin and Gehlot and their respective resourcefulness could be best utilized by the party.
well, however hard political pundits and the common man churn their brain, it would be Rahul’s grey matter and expert consulting which would solve this puzzle on Wednesday evening. Don’t forget that Gehlot has a charisma and he is called a magician in politics.
