A Dream Come True For Bird Watchers
It was a dream come true for bird lovers in Jaipur as they took part in the 4th edition of the Jaipur Bird Race held on Sunday February 3, 2019. The event was organised in the city and surroundings and bird lovers did all day bird watching, studied behavior of the birds and experts also shared their views with the enthusiasts.
Nearly 20 teams from around the entire city, with 110 participants participated in the Bird Race. Participants went for bird watching at Chandlai Lake, Pankhar of Barkheda, Nahargarh Biological Garden, Jal Mahal, Kapoor Chand Kushish Memorial Park and other places in Jaipur and witnessed birds in their natural habitat.
These teams recorded approximately 126 species of birds and recorded them in their log books.

More Great White Pelicans and Dalmatian Pelicans Spotted
The main attraction this time is the number of flamingos and hundreds of thousands of Great White Pelicans and Dalmatian Pelicans that appeared in Bakhheda’s Pakhar and the surrounding areas.

This time it was a matter of discussion in Chandlai and Barkheda showing a large number of them compared to last year. This can be due to migration rate and abundance of fish.

White Naped Tit A Discovery
In the Nahargarh forest area, White Naped Tit, which is an internationally endangered species was witnessed. The Forest Department should conserve it by creating a common conservation plan in collaboration with organizations interested in local wildlife conservation. Its conservation should be done with coordinated efforts with bird lover institutions.
Falcon Team wins Bird of The Day Award
The Jaipur Bird Race was organised in collaboration with Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank HSBC, Yuvraj Canopy, Ecology and Rural Development Society, Hope & Beyond and RAKSHA organization.
Bird of the day was also selected in this program, which was awarded to a team. Team Name: Falcon Team (Member of Defense Organization)
The entire program was coordinated by Dr. Sumit Dukiya and Dr. Himmat Singh. All the team and Jaipurites as well as Team Vishesbaat is thankful to them for organizing such a fabulous event and helping in the conservation of birds.
The program was concluded as a celebration at the Hotel Om Niwas based in Bankipark. In which all the participants gathered and expressed their thoughts.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Joy Gardner. Mr Devendra Bharadwaj, Director FTI Forest Department was the Chief guest, while Prof. Sarina Kalia (Geography Dept, Rajasthan University) graced the occasion as Special Guest.
