The students of Gujarat schools have been directed to answer their daily attendance roll call with ‘Jai Hind’ or ‘Jai Bharat’ instead of saying ‘yes sir’ or ‘present sir’ from January 1. This has been introduced in order to inculcate a feeling of patriotism among students.
The circular was issued by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, and Director, Primary Education stating that the students would be registering their present status by saying Jai Hind and Jai Bharat rather than saying yes sir or present sir in the classroom during the morning or any other roll call.
