A high-level delegation of the Indian National Congress Party under the leadership of Avinash Pandey met the Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The party presented the letter to stake claim to form a government in Rajasthan.
The delegation urged Governor Singh to accept the claim of the Indian National Congress Party. Pandey briefed Governor Singh that the name of the leader of the legislative party or the chief minister is under discussion, regarding which the matter will be informed soon.
Notably, the name of the chief minister was to be declared on Wednesday and a meeting of the newly elected Congress MLAs was also held at the PCC in Jaipur but following a no confirmation by the national party chief Rahul Gandhi, the declaration would be held on Thursday.
Meanwhile, informed sources have said that it might be possible the Gurjar community of Rajasthan is mounting pressure on the party president to appoint their community leader Sachin Pilot at the helm. Besides, it is also said that a large number of newly elected MLAs of Madhya Pradesh have also unitedly proposed Sachin’s name.

On the other hand, it is also learnt that a majority of party MLAs have agreed upon the name of Ashok Gehlot as the leader of legislative party. It is said that 71 MLAs and all the independents who have extended their support to Congress party have agreed upon Gehlot as the next CM of Rajasthan.
