15.7% increase in the number cancer cases
India reported a total number of new cases of cancer, 11,57,294, a 15.7% increase in the number of all cancer cases between 2012-2018, according to the data of International agency for research on Cancer’s Globocan 2018 report.
Number Of Cancer Deaths Increase By 12.1%
The Globocan data showed that breast cancer is still the most prevalent type of cancer in India with an increase of 10% while the cases of second most prevalent type, the lip and oral cavity, saw an alarming rise of 114.2% in the period of six years.
The number of deaths from cancer in the country increased by 12.1% to 7,84, 821 in the given time period, as per the report.
