Triple Talaq Bill to be tabled in Rajya Sabha tomorrow

The Triple Talaq Bill that has given more rights to Muslim women regarding practice of instant divorce – Triple Talaq would be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday for discussion and approval by the Rajya Sabha members. On Tuesday, the upper house decided to table the bill on Wednesday and then the house was adjourned till 2 pm.

On the other hand, the Communist Party of India CPI has demanded that the Triple Talaq Bill must be sent to select committee before it would be made a law of the land in India. Notably, the once an Act, the Triple Talaq Act would debar any Muslim man from giving divorce to his wife by just pronouncing Talaq, Talaq, Talaq. The offenders would be sentenced three years imprisonment while the woman would freedom from instant Talaq.

Notably, around 22 Muslim nations in the world have abolished Triple Talaq and India has become the next country to do that. It is a notable achievement of the Modi government and people credit the achievement to Prime Minister Modi. However, Opposition Congress seems severely confused over the bill because on the one it wishes to oppose the bill and on the other hand, it is not able to decided how to go about it as a large section of Muslim women support this bill introduced by the Modi government.
