India has reported a total of 1,694 cases of influenza A H1N1 with 49 deaths till January 13 this year, which is more than the double of 798 cases that were reported in all of January 2018. In the year 2018, there were 14,999 confirmed cases of swine flu and 1,103 deaths.
Gujarat, Delhi And Haryana Other Affected States
Rajasthan is the worst hit with 789 cases and 31 deaths in the first two weeks of this year. Other affected states with high number of swine flu cases are Gujarat, Delhi and Haryana.
According to WHO estimates, influenza infects 5-15% of the total world population every year causing fever, cough and lethargy.
