The incident took place on the Muzaffarpur to north Bihar road when the SUV driver tried to evade people stopping the SUV to help a women victim who was hit by a speeding truck just before the incident. It is said that the parts of the body of the students killed in the incident were found scattered on road.

Nine school children were killed and around two dozen were injured when a speeding sports utility vehicle hit them on the on the Muzaffarpur to north Bihar road where parts of the body of the students killed were found scattered on road. All the victims were of a government school.
As per news reports, the SUV had hit the children who were waiting to cross the highway. As per further reports, the incident took place when some people tried to stop the SUV to help carry a women victim who was hit by a speeding truck just before the SUV had arrived at the scene.
In order to evade trouble of carrying the victim to the hospital in the SUV, the SUV driver tried to speed up and lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the children who were standing on the road side to cross the road. Reports further said that the injured were taken to a hospital and were given medical treatment there.
Chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar has announced Rs4 lakh help as ex-gratia to each of the families of the deceased children and has told authorities to leave no stone unturned in saving the injured children.
