Apex Court of India Supreme Court has extended the deadline for linking of Aadhaar ID with bank accounts and mobile phone connections till it passes its judgement in the case. The Court passed the judgment on a petition which has challenged the Constitutional validity of the linking of Aadhaar IDs of bank account holders with the bank account and mobile subscribers with that of the mobile numbers.

Notably, presently the deadline for linking of Aadhaar is March 31. The extension of deadline by the apex court has come a breather for many customers and bank account holders who were not able to link their IDs with bank account and mobile phones due to one or the other reasons. Some even could not get Aadhaar card made, sources said.

The judgement passed by the Supreme Court is an interim order as the final decision would be passed by the apex court in some time. In its order on Tuesday, the SC has said that its order will remain in force on all matters related to linking of Aadhaar ID except that related to subsidies. The final judgment in the matter will be pronounced by the five member SC bench soon.
