Statue of EV Ramasamy ‘Periyar’ founder of Periyar movement, social reformer and Dravid movement in Tamil Nadu has been allegedly damaged. According to reports, the incident is in succession after a bulldozer was used to damage Lenin’s statue in Tripura. The idol of EV Ramasamy Periyar was allegedly damaged in Tamil Nadu’s Vellur district on Tuesday night. After this incident there has been a tension in the district. After the incident, police have reached the spot and arrested two people.




A petrol bomb was also reportedly thrown at the same time at BJP office in Tamil Nadu. CCTV footage of this incident has also emerged on Tuesday evening. This incident happened after the statue of Periyar was broken at Vellore in the state. The bombing incident is being linked to damaging the statue. A bomb was thrown at the BJP office on Tuesday evening in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. Unknown youth threw a bomb at BJP office. The police are investigating this matter. This incident happened after the arrest of BJP and a CPI worker in the matter of damaging the image of Periyar, who started the Periyar movement in Vellore. After damaging the face of the statue, there was a tension in Vellore district. It is also reportedly known that the Tamil Nadu BJP leader, whose Periyar remark sparked a row, has expressed ‘heartfelt regret.’
