On Monday, the Delhi High Court gave instructions to deposit Rs 10 crore in the proceedings demanding income tax of Rs 249.15 crore against Young Indian Pvt Ltd. Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi are the key shareholders of this company. J Raj S. Ravindra Bhat and Judge AK Chawla’s bench ordered the company to deposit Rs 10 crore to the Income Tax Department till March 31 and deposit the remaining amount till April 15. Prior to this, the lower court sent summons to Sonia as well as Rahul Gandhi, as well as the accused, in the case of assets more than sources of income in the National Herald case.
The National Herald scam is an ongoing case in a Delhi court filed by Indian economist and politician Subramanian Swamy against politicians Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, their companies and associated persons
