Terrorists attack Sunjwan camp in Jammu, two army men martyred, 7 injured

Update February 10, 2018: The three JeM terrorists who were involved in the Jammu terror attack on army camp at Sunjwan camp have been reportedly neutralized.

Seven persons including two women and two children were reportedly injured in the incident in the attack on army camp in Jammu Kashmir in the wee hours on Saturday. As per sources information, operation to weed out the terrorists is on.

Terrorists seem to have been doing serious damage to India in Jammu and Kashmir. This time they managed to attack another Indian army camp which is Sunjwan Army camp on the Jammu-Pathankot highway. There have been reports suggesting that one JCO and one soldier was killed in the incident while seven soldiers were reportedly injured in the attack that was carried out around 5 AM.

The injured include one major of the army, two JCOs, two women and two children. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has reportedly briefed Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman about the operation and current situation in Sunjwan. Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also reportedly spoken to the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir and took the updates about the incident and treatment and medical aid to the injured.

The Home Ministry is said to have been keeping a close eye on the whole situation. Operation of the army is going on to weed out the terrorists.

As per live updates on the incident, Air Force has also been called to join in the operation and para commandos have been called from Udhampur for the operation. The entire area is also being monitored by a helicopter.

According to media reports, 3-4 terrorists are trapped and they might have managed to enter residential area. After this they also started firing. The Quick Response Team of this attack of terrorists also responded. However, till now no news has been reported about the neutralization of the terrorists. According to the latest information, these terrorists are hiding in the campus of the Army camp.

Further reports infer that some suspicious activity was detected at the camp at around 4.55 in the morning on Saturday. The terrorists allegedly belonging to JeM had started firing on the guards bunker. It is said that terrorists may have been hiding in the residential area of the camp or the family quarters. The actual number of terrorists within the camp is not clear but it is being presumed that there may be 3-4 terrorists hiding in the camp’s residential area.
