- Way ahead for BJP in Gujarat
- Who will be Chief Minister of Gujarat?
- Who will be chief minister of Himachal Pradesh?
Gujarat Elections no doubt are an eye opener for the BJP. Being a BJP bastion, the state has never witnessed less than 100 seats but this time, the finally tally fell just short of one seat and the saffron party had to content with 99 seats. On the other hand, the Congress party heralded this time, could be due to RaGa effect and managed on 77 seats.
However, the BJP has enough numbers to claim majority and form the government but it seems that this tenure would not be a cakewalk and if experts were to be believed the Congress might overpower it in the next Assembly elections. Besides, there is strong skepticism about performance of the Modi led party in the coming general elections in 2019. Moreover, strong opposition might not let the BJP government in Gujarat run its operations smoothly. There might be a lot of hurdles in BJP’s way this time.
On the other hand, if the BJP reforms itself and comes out in new avatar christened as BJP 3.0 then it could bring back the lost sheen. Experts also believe that the reforms should not only include a change in perspective that Gujarat and BJP are synonymous but also a more focussed development plan that really motivates the voters to help BJP retain power in the 2022 Assembly elections.
Another eye opener for BJP was victory of three Muslim community candidates in Guajrat. Where BJP heralded in UP even with a no-Muslim candidate policy, in Guajrat win of the three candidates in Gujarat might be an indication that the BJP bastion has really fallen or at least encroached upon badly in Gujarat.
Who will be Chief Minister of Gujarat?
On Tuesday, the BJP has sent its top leaders to Guajrat and Himachal Pradesh to decide name of chief minister and there are unconfirmed reports that Vijay Rupani might be repeated in Gujarat. Besides, Smriti Irani is also the top contender for the chief minister post in Gujarat.
Overall, it seems that there is problem of plenty for the BJP in Guajarat as there are many candidates who are in the race for CM chair and it would be a tough decision for the party top brass to zero in on one name and displease a lot.
Who will be chief minister of Himachal Pradesh?
Name of Himachal Pradesh Chief minister is yet not known as Prem Kumar Dhumal, the one who was named as the chief ministerial candidate has lost the elections. Dhumal’s son Anurag Thakur who is Lok Sabha MP might be the contender. Other contenders are JP Nadda and Anil Kumar but it all depends on the BJP top brass including Amit Shah and Modi to decided and assimilate BJP-RSS interests before deciding the name of the CM of Himachal Pradesh.
Update Dec-24 2:00PM ; Jairam Thakur, MLA from Saraj has been chosen as the Cm of Himachal Pradesh
