Schedule for the General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland

The Election Commission of India ECI has announced the schedule of elections in three eastern India states Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. The poll process will begin from January 24 with the gazette notification for elections in Tripura

The Election Commission of India has announced poll dates for Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. As per the EC, the election dates in these three states would be held from March 7 till March 14.

The Assembly elections in these three states would be held on these dates. Each of these states have 60 assembly seats and separate dates for the polling have been declared by the EC. Elections in these eastern India states would be held on the said dates. Poll dates of Meghalaya and Nagaland are the same.

The term of Meghalaya will be ending on 06.03.2018 while that of Nagaland on 13.03.2018 and that of Tripura on 14.03.2018.

The number of electors in Meghalaya is 18 lakh, in Nagaland 12 lakh and that in Tripura is 25.69 lakh

While 100 per cent of the electors in Meghalaya and Tripura have photo ID cards, 97.92 per cent voters in Nagaland have photo ID cards.

As a New Initiative, VVPATs would be used at all the Polling Stations: VVPATs will be used along with EVMs in all Polling Stations of each assembly constituency of poll going States of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura to enhance the transparency and credibility of the elections.
