Terming it to be a celebration of death and suffering, the Opposition came down heavily on the Modi government and raised question that there was no point in the celebration of death and suffering.

Notably, it was on November 8, last year, the Modi government had announced demonetisation of then Rs1000 and Rs500 notes and the move had been a constant topic of criticism.
The opposition had also taken the issue seriously and had said that the move was taken in a very haphazard manner and without any planning. However, finance minister Arun Jaitely had reiterated on the anniversary of DeMo that proper preparation was done before the implementation of the move that aimed at curbing black money and terrorist funding in the country.
