On Monday, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi lead the Bharat Bandh protests in Delhi and along with the party leaders started a march from Raj Ghat towards Ramlila Maidan to protest against fuel price hike and falling rupee value.

Twenty parties have reportedly joined Congress in Bharat Bandh over fuel prices. Bharat Bandh has hit services in states as schools remain shut and buses were off the road.

On the other hand, Congress party reportedly asked its party workers to ensure violence-free Bharat Bandh on Monday. The party demands that petrol and diesel should be brought under the ambit of GST through which the prices of fuel would come down by about Rs 15 to Rs 18.

Congress leader and Former PM Manmohan Singh has reportedly said that it is time to change Modi government.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Raj Babbar has reportedly alleged that BJP has only been speaking lies about the Rafale deal. He also reportedly added that the saffron party is bothered about industrialists and not about rising fuel prices. The Congress leader had accused the BJP of bothering only about industrialists instead of focusing on rising petroleum prices on Sunday.

AAP Says No To Bharat Bandh

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP decided not to join Bharat Bandh protest on Monday. The party made it clear that it will not join the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the Congress against rising fuel prices and falling rupee value. AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj reportedly said that party won’t join Bharat Bandh called by Congress.

Security was beefed up in Jaipur over #BharatBandh. Police informed that all the necessary measures have been taken. It is said that police have been directed to take stringent actions against the protesters who will restore to violence during protests.

Rajasthan Government Reduces VAT on Petrol & Diesel

In a major decision on Sunday Rajasthan State government reduced 4% VAT on Petrol-Diesel. The Government issued notifications of VAT reduction. New rates apply from Monday 10-Sep-18. Petrol will cost Rs 3 due to reduction in VAT and diesel will cost around Rs 2.50 less. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje made this announcement in Rawatsar. VAT on Petrol has been cut from 30 to 26 percent while on Diesel VAT reduced from 22 to 18 percent.

Bharat Bandh in Gujarat:

Police detain Gujarat Congress Leaders. The Congress leaders on Sunday also alleged that Centre increased excise duty 12 times on petrol, diesel and urged the people of Gujarat to make Monday’s Bharat bandh a success and accused the Centre of revising excise duty on petrol.

Bharat Bandh had little effect in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. However, bus services were affected since early morning in both the states as Congress activists and the Left parties launched a sit-in.
