More than three-fourth of the population of India is exposed to harmful air that is loaded with tiny particles which is four times the level suggested by the World Health Organization, the most detailed India-led study of air pollution impacts has unveiled.The study, released by a nationwide research consortium on Thursday, has observed that 8% of the total disease burden in India and 11% of untimely deaths in people younger than 70 years is associated with air pollution. As compared to this tobacco is responsible for 6.5% of the country’s total disease burden.The study has found over a million premature deaths from air pollution in India in the year 2017- 670,000 from outdoor pollution while 480,000 from indoor pollution.
