Spending time online, watching TV or gaming before bedtime, may not harm mental health of adolescents or young people, suggests a new study challenging earlier beliefs on screen time.

Published In Psychological Science journal

The research, published in Psychological Science journal, sees doubt on the widely-believed correlation between screen time and well-being in teenagers.

Study On 17,000 Teenagers

The study was conducted on more than 17,000 teenagers and observed that adolescents’ total screen time each day had less impact on their mental health, including weekdays and weekends.

It was also seen that the use of digital screens 2 hours, 1 hour or even half an hour before bedtime didn’t have clear link with a decrease in adolescent well-being, even though this is mostly taken as a reality by media reports and public debates.
