New police chief in Rajasthan – OP Galhotra is new DGP Raj Police
Jaipur: After serving as Joint director, Central Bureau of Investigation, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi for a long time from May 7, 2008 to Nov 28, 2015 POLICE MEDAL (in 2001) & PRESIDENT POLICE MEDAL (in 2009) awardee OP Galhotra finally became the Director General of Police of Rajasthan Police.
Though he had to remain of Awaiting posting order twice during his career, first in 2004 and then in 2015-16, Galhotra’s integrity and dedication was at last awarded by the Rajasthan government on Thursday.
Born in 1959 (15/10/1959), Galhotra’s home town in Haryana and he studied chartered accountancy after pursuing Bachelor’s degree in commerce. An 1985 batch IPS officer, Galhotra has handled four districts in Rajasthan as Superintendent of Police and has also served on other key posts in the state and in New Delhi. Notably, Galhotra has served on key posts in CBI and his elevation as DGP Rajasthan and his vast experience as a police officer would no doubt be beneficial for the state policing. He has replaced Ajit Singh IPS after superannuation.
