At least five persons were killed and 11 were injured in the blast at the Kochi Shipyard in Kerala. Rescue teams reached the spot and took the situation under control and referred the injured to the hospital.

Five people were reportedly killed and at least 11 people were injured in a blast at the Cochin/Kochi Shipyard in Kerala on Tuesday morning.
According to the information the explosion took place in te Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Tanker and the fire due to the explosion took an ugly turn and killed the workers working at the Cochin yard. After the blast, the team of police and fire department reached the shipyard and tried to douse the fire but it is said that the accident had taken the toll by that time.
The injured have been taken to the shipyard hospital for first aid and further treatment. It is said that some of the injured have received severe burns due to the fire and the death toll could rise. Till reports last came in the fire department was busy in controlling the fire.
Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation in the Government of India has ordered a probe into the incident and soon a committee or security agency would be probing the incident.
