Claims of more than Rs890 crores have been passed under Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme: claimed health minister Saraf while reply to a question in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday.

Medical and Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf has said in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday that under Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojna, claims exceeded Rs890 crores have been approved. He said that out of these, claims of Rs577 crores have been passed for private hospitals.

The minister was responding to the supplementary questions asked by the MLAs. He also said that under the National Food Security Act, eligible families are being given benefits of Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme.

He informed that in the event of accidental claims, 72 hours are given for registration. There is a need to register the patient in front of the camera. Saraf also said that the services of the New India Insurance Company are being taken for this scheme, which is a Government of India initiative.There is also a provision that the insurance company cannot make non-essential benefits.

Saraf further said in the Assembly that there is no difference in the insurance package of private and government hospitals. He assured the House that if there is any practical difficulty in getting Bhamasha card online, then an effort will be made to address the issue. He further informed House that efforts will also be made to include diseases related to maternity and women under the package.

Earlier, answering a question asked by MLA Sandeep Sharma, Medical and Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf said that in the Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme, the eligible families under the National Food Security Act should be treated in private hospitals on the basis of Bhamashah card or Bhamaashah receipt.

He informed house that the facility is being provided. He further said that in the last two years, from December 13, 2015 to December 12, 2017, a total of 17,586 patients have been given benefits in 41 affiliated private hospitals in Kota city. He also tabled details.

Saraf said that in the last two years, 55 complaints regarding denial of free treatment by private hospitals have been received under the Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme. Mr. Saraf had also tabled details of the action taken by the government on them.

The Health Minister also tabled details of the free treatment provided to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
