People from around the world and domestic tourists and enthusiast have started gathering in Nanital to watch the rare celestial event. It is learnt that these people would be watching the lunar eclipse at Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences which is situated at a height of 2,450 metres from sea level in India. The blue moon, blood moon and the super moon as it is being called by the scientists would be visible to people at the observatory.
The lunar ellipse on January 31 will be the first total lunar eclipse of 2018. India is among the countries where this event would be visible clearly. The other countries are Russia, Australia, China and Thailand.

On 31st January, the moon would be closest to earth and it would look bigger in size and brighter as well.
Why Nanital for Lunar Eclipse visibility in India
In India Nanital is the place from where the rare event would be visible at best and people can watch the lunar eclipse clearly. The observatory has also made special arrangements for capturing the rare event which is occurring after 150 years.
The event would be telecast live by some agencies, sources have informed.

The blue moon would be visible in other parts of the nation. In Delhi it would be visible around 5.50 PM till 9.40 PM for duration of more than 3 hours.
