The Afghan forces managed to end a siege at Kabul Intercontinental Hotel in the nation’s capital Kabul and killed the attackers. The forces also rescued the hostages and as per reports there were as many as 150 hostages inside the hotel and were rescued unhurt.
In the exchange of fire and rescue operation, the Kabul forces killed five people in order to free the hotel from the attackers. The over 150 hostages included 41 foreign nationals.
The attacked had burnt down a part of the luxury hotel and witnesses also reportedly heard explosions from the hotel. As per reports, no terrorist organization had claimed responsibility of the attack.
An international SOS Alert was issued for the Kabul Inter-Continental Hotel attack in the Kabul Province, Afghanistan
Notably, the hotel was under attack in 2011 as well by the Taliban when during the rescue operation as many as 10 civilians were killed in the incident.
