SC decision on Aadhaar Linking: deadline to link Aadhaar extended till March 31, 2018
The Supreme Court of India on Friday extended the deadline of Aadhaar linking to March 31, 2018. Meanwhile, the apex court has reportedly not given any relief to those who open new bank accounts. This means, all those who wish to have a new bank account would have to furnish Aadhaar number mandatorily. The interim order is also said to lacks clarity on the status of Aadhaar linking with the social security schemes.
The deadline for linking of mobile phones, bank accounts and other financial accounts has been extended and now to the relief of many people, they could furnish Aadhaar details to their bank by March 31 next year.
Supreme Court accepts the statement of the Attorney General of India that the deadline for Aadhaar linkage with all schemes of its Ministries/Departments has been extended until 31st March 2018
To open new bank account, a person not having Aadhaar will need to produce proof of having enrolled for Aadhaar & will need to link Aadhaar to the bank account by 31st March 2018
