2.0 release amidst controversies

2.0 starring the South Superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood star Akshay kumar is all set to release. The movie has got down in a trouble, with the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) booking a complaint against the makers of the movie for encouraging Anti-scientific attitude towards mobile phone networks.

COAI requests CBFC to revoke the film certification

In their letter addressed to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the COAI asserted that the makers of the movie are falsely portraying that mobile phones and mobile towers are harmful to living beings as well as for the environment. COAI has also appealed to CBFC to cancel the certificate granted for the teaser, trailer, promotional videos and the movie with immediate effect. The request also stated that the showcasing of the movie should be suspended until the complaint is recognized and a resolution is taken.

Can 2.0 Beat ToH to become the highest Hindi opener?

There are huge expectations from the movie with regard to it’s performance at the box-office. Will the Hindi version of 2.0 be able to beat the opening-day record of Thugs of Hindustan (Rs50.75 crores). This might be a question raising in the minds of film critics. Reportedly, on being asked the same question, film exhibitor Akshay Rathi said that he is quite confident that the movie will perform well at the box office and it will also open with better numbers than an Akshay Kumar movie normally does. According to him, the movie can definitely make between 12-14 crore on the opening day. He added that the movie is terrific package including not just Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth but also other things like a huge scale, the VFX, a director like S Shankar and a music director like AR Rahman. All the factors can make it a blockbuster.

2.0, the much awaited sequel to Shankar’s Enthiran (2010), will be released on November 29 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. 2.0 touted to be the biggest budgeted Indian film ever. Under the banner of Lyca Productions, the film is being made on a huge budget of Rs510 crores. Rajinikanth will be seen as Chitti, the Andro-Humanoid Robot. On the other hand, Akshay plays the role of Dr. Richard, an ornithologist, a researcher wages a war against cellphones and technology.

Shankar plans to make 3.0?

During the promotions of the movie, the director Shankar had reportedly said that he intends to make 3.0 as well. But he added that he would wait for the right script for the sequel. He mentioned that the it’s not possible to make the next installment without the Superstar Rajinikanth and Chitti, the Robot.
